The Water Department is responsible to produce, store and distribute water for the Businesses, Residential, Irrigation and Fire Suppression needs. The system continues to invest in personnel and equipment in order to protect the health and safety of the citizens and in doing so maintains a State of Texas rating of “Superior” with the water system.

Cross Connection and Backflow Program
The City of Whitesboro has partnered with SC Tracking Solutions at (866) 232-0174. This program is designed to prevent contaminants from entering water lines that go directly to your location and to the overall water distribution system. To ensure that your assembly remains in compliance with state and local regulations, please contact TCEQ licensed Backflow Prevention Assembly Tester (BPAT) to have the appropriate assemblies tested. Your technician will enter your catalog number online. You will be charged a fee by the technician and your results will be posted to SC Tracking and the City of Whitesboro.

The biggest potential threat to safe water is an unprotected hose connection to an outside water faucet. The installation of a Hose Bib Vacuum Breaker (HBVB) helps to eliminate this cross connection and is required by TCEQ &City Ordinance 51.075. § 51.075 CROSS CONNECTION CONTROL PROGRAM. (amlegal.com)
Yard irrigation also is a potential area of Backflow and Contamination. A program of locating improper connections and the inspection of a backflow assembly helps protect our health.
All commercial assembly locations are required to be tested by the State Licensed Backflow Assembly Tester (BPAT) annually and a report sent to the City which is required by law. All residents use of Irrigator Backflow Assemblies is required to be tested on a biannual schedule based on address. Odd numbered addresses report in odd-ending years, while even numbered addresses report in even-ending years.
A property owner is responsible for installation and testing of all assemblies on a property as part of a customer service agreement made by utility connection.
