Police

The Whitesboro Police Department is a progressive rural Texas community agency serving Whitesboro population of 4000+ citizens.  The city is located in central-west Grayson County, 17 miles west of Sherman, Texas; 14 miles east of Gainesville, Texas; and just 15 miles south of the Oklahoma border.  The two major Highways linking us to other cities and to Oklahoma are US Highway 82 and US Highway 377.

The Police Department is composed of the Chief of Police, the Lieutenant, the Investigator, five Patrol Officers, and one Night Watchman. Our officers are committed to serving this community and its citizens. They strive to make Whitesboro a safe place for people to live and visit; 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The duties of our officers include, but are not limited to: protecting the citizens, patrolling the community, enforcing the laws, making arrests, responding to calls, issuing citations, following up on investigations, taking reports, conducting interviews, and many other important responsibilities.

Also staffed by the Department is a full-time, 24-hour, emergency dispatch communications division that includes five full time telecommunications officers.  They are responsible for all 911 and non-emergency calls for Police, Fire and Emergency Medical Service (EMS) in the city of Whitesboro.  Other responsibilities include dispatching those calls that require the aide of the Collinsville, Gordonville, Sadler, and Sherwood Shores Fire Departments and dispatching EMS to the entire West side of Grayson County area.
