Whitesboro PD is now accepting applications for the following positions:

Police Officer

Description: Performs a variety of duties related to law enforcement on behalf of Whitesboro Police Department.

Duties included, but not limited to: being familiar with Texas Penal Code, Texas Code of Criminal Procedure, Texas Transportation Code and Texas Family Code. Responding to calls for service from the community. Conducting preliminary investigations at crime scenes. Documenting incidents in police reports and gathering evidence. Searching, pursuing and detaining subjects. Enforcing traffic laws. Making arrests. And working well with other WPD staff, as well as other local, state, and federal entities.

Must be 21 years of age or older, have a high school diploma or equivalent, be in good physical condition, have a valid TX drivers license, be of good moral character, with no criminal history. Applicant must hold a basic TCOLE certification or higher. Experience is preferred. Pay rate will be $24.00/hour or higher depending on experience.

 

Telecommunications Officer/911 Dispatcher

Description: Performs a variety of dispatch duties on behalf of The Whitesboro Police Department. Answers all incoming emergency and non-emergency calls; receives, prioritizes and dispatches calls for Police/EMS/Fire and after hours on-call city services. Monitors radio traffic; documents all calls received and dispatched; operates various telecommunications equipment and software programs;p performs other duties as assigned. 

Applicant must have excellent customer service skills and must be able to stay calm, and calm others in a stressful situation; must be clear thinking and have clear understandable speaking skills. Multi-tasking is essential. 

No experience is necessary. Must be 18 years of age or older, have a valid TX driver's license, HS diploma or equivalent. Must be able to pass a drug screen and background check. Must be able to pass a physical and psychological exam. Must be able to work any shift, weekends, and holidays.
